Jo Anne Westerheide
received a Bachelor of Music degree cum laude from Fontbonne
College. She studied Talent Education
(“Suzuki”) piano with Dr. Haruko Kataoka
at numerous Institutes from 1989-2002, and also with Bruce Anderson, Cathy Hargrave, Joan Krzywicki, Cheryl
Kraft, and Elaine Worley. She has
registered “Every Child Can” and Suzuki piano units 1, 2, 4, 5 and Overview of
Repertoire with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. She studied Suzuki violin pedagogy with Carol
Smith at S.I.U.-Edwardsville, and has registered violin units 1 – 3 with the S.
A. A.
Miss Westerheide has
directed a Talent Education piano studio in the Saint Louis area since 1989,
violin since 1995 and served as co-director the St. Louis Suzuki Piano
Institute since 1994. She is a member of
the St. Louis Suzuki Piano Teachers’ Association, the Suzuki Association of the
Americas, the National Federation of
Music Clubs, Piano Teachers Roundtable and a former member of the Piano Basics
Foundation, Music Teacher National Association, its state and local affiliates,
American String Teachers’ Association and Music Educators’ National
Conference. Currently, she is president
of club 4H of the National Federation of Music Clubs and chairman of that club’s
junior festival.
Her studio is located in the Clayton/Brentwood area.
